Here’s a short demo whipped up just before the close of of Web Directions South. Two Python scripts, one of which opens a Twitter stream, looking for all instances of “WDS12″ – the hashtag for the conference. When it gets a match, it spits the timestamp of the Tweet onto stdout.
A second program gets its input piped in from the first, and every time it has input, it simply makes the Light flash, using the gradiencgi REST command.
The result? Every time someone Tweets something with WDS12, Huey blinks!
We’ll be posting the code for this over the weekend. Have fun!
